1. Upgrade Offer: This certificate is valid for a one-cabin upgrade for qualifying one-way travel on flights operated by Delta Air Lines or select partners, for the named Upgrade Certificate owner and/or companion(s) who is a SkyMiles Member traveling on the same flight pursuant to the terms and conditions of this offer. Eligible connections do not exceed 4 hours for domestic routes or 24 hours for international, between the origin and destination of a ticket fare(s). This upgrade offer may also be available on certain Delta Connection carrier flights and for flights with Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air and Aeromexico as set forth in "Applicable Routes" below. There is no limit to the number of companions the Certificate holder can have, but companions of the Certificate holder must be traveling on the same or linked reservation as the Certificate holder to be upgraded. Any stopovers are governed by the fare rules. All rules of the fare purchased will apply except as changed by this offer. Credit for Miles and Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) will be based upon purchased fare (base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges, but exclusive of government-imposed taxes and fees). Space is limited and subject to availability. Seats may not be available on all flights or in all markets. Once an upgrade clears, the certificate is considered used
2. Vervaldatum: Global Upgrade Certificates will expire on the last day of the Medallion year associated with that Choice Benefit selection. For example, if you select Global Upgrade Certificates as your Choice Benefit upon earning Diamond Medallion Status on juni 1, 2024 for the 2025 Medallion Year, those Global Upgrade Certificates will expire on januari 31, 2026 (i.e., the last day of the 2025 Medallion Year).
3. Refunds & Cash Value: This certificate is non-refundable and has no cash value. Certificates will be deemed fully used upon surrender and will not be honored retroactively or in connection with the exchange of any wholly or partially unused ticket. Ticket refunds are permitted only pursuant to the rules of the fare purchased. Any full or partial refund of the underlying qualifying-fare ticket after upgrade will render this certificate void.
4. Not Combinable: Valid only with a published qualifying fare, including corporate fares and tickets booked as part of a Delta Vacations package, with a ticket designator beginning with the letter `X`, ‘Y’, `C` or `A` and tickets booked. The certificate is not combinable with any other ticket designator programs or special status fares such as: Government, military, no-value, VUSA, round-the-world, agency/industry discount, group, senior, student, infant, child, coupon, certificate or any other fares/tickets which may later be specified by DL with or without notice.
5. Valid Carrier: Valid only on Delta Air Lines, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air, Aeromexico and certain Delta Connection carrier operated flights.
6. Applicable Routes: Valid only for travel on routings with an upgradeable Main Cabin, Delta Comfort+ or a Delta Premium Select fare. Valid for use as a one-cabin upgrade on one-way travel on published fares and routings systemwide for flights operated by Delta Air Lines or another valid carrier (as specified above). For travel on Virgin Atlantic: valid for use on one-way travel systemwide. For travel on Air France and KLM: valid for one-way travel systemwide as long as the travel to and within Europe is connected with a long-haul route. A qualifying “long-haul” route contains a distance of at least 1,750 miles between Point A and Point B. For example, ATL-CDG would be valid but CDG-IST would not be valid as there is no long-haul route connected to the intra-Europe flight. For Aeromexico: valid for use on Delta-marketed, Aeromexico-operated flights to upgrade into Clase Premier. For travel on Korean Air: valid for use on one-way travel systemwide.
7. Applicable Fare Classes: Certificate may be used to upgrade on Delta Air Lines or a valid carrier (as specified above) on published retail fares booked in P, A, G, S, W, Y, B, M, H, Q, K, L, U, T, X or V class and upgrade into RV/OK/OV class on Delta operated flights, and may also be used to upgrade on Award Travel tickets and Miles + Cash tickets on Delta-operated flights, Pay with Miles tickets and Companion Certificates. Certificate may not be used to upgrade other published fares including those booked in Basic Economy. For travel on KLM-operated, Delta-marketed flights this certificate may be used to upgrade on published fares booked in Y, B, M, H, Q, K, L, U, T, X or V class and all fare classes upgrade into Z class. For travel on KLM-operated flights marketed by KLM, fares booked in Y, B, M, K, H, L, Q, T, N, R, or V class are eligible to upgrade into Z class. For travel on KLM-operated flights marketed by AF, this certificate may be used to upgrade on published fares booked in Y, B, M, K, H, L, Q, T, N, R, or V class into Z class. For travel on Air France-operated flights marketed by Air France and booked in Y, B, M, K, H, L, Q, T, N, R, or V class, customers can upgrade into A class (Premium Economy), or they can upgrade from W, S, or A class into Z class (Business Class). For Air France-operated flights marketed by KLM, customers with a published fare booked in Y, B, M, K, H, L, Q, T, N, R, or V class can upgrade into A class (Premium Economy), or they can upgrade from W, S, or A class into Z class (Business Class). For Air France-operated flights marketed by Delta, customers with a published fare booked in Y, B, M, H, Q, K, L, U, T, X or V class can upgrade into A class (Premium Economy)In addition, customers traveling on an Air France-operated, Delta-marketed flight and booked in P, A, or G class can upgrade to Z class (Business Class). For travel on Aeromexico operated, Delta marketed flights this certificate may be used to upgrade on Delta`s published fares booked in W, Y, B, M, H, Q, K, L, U, T, X or V class and all fare classes upgrade into Aeromexico`s O class. Valid on Delta-marketed, Virgin Atlantic-operated flights for use globally on published fares booked in W, S, Y, B, M, H, Q, K, L, U, T, X or V class to Virgin Atlantic’s P class (Premium Economy), or from fares booked in P, A, G class to Virgin Atlantic’s G class (Upper Class). Valid on Delta-marketed, Korean Air-operated flights for use globally on Delta's published fares booked in J class to Korean Air’s A class, Y or B class to Korean Air's Z class, or booked in M class to Korean Air's O class.
8. Upgrade Reservations and Ticketing: Upgradeable Main Cabin Class, Delta Comfort+, or Delta Premium Select tickets must be purchased according to the applicable fare rules. After booking Main Cabin Class, Delta Comfort+, or Delta Premium Select tickets eligible for upgrade, the Upgrade Certificate owner whose name appears on the certificate must contact Delta to book the upgrade reservation for the Certificate owner and/or travel companion(s) (if applicable). The Certificate may be applied toward a one-cabin upgrade. If a flight has three or more cabins of service, the Certificate will permit an upgrade of only one cabin beyond the cabin selected for the purchased ticket; additional Certificates cannot be applied to the same ticket to upgrade more than one cabin beyond the purchased cabin of service. Delta representatives must book in "SY” for Comfort +; “OV” for First; “RV” for Delta Premium Select; “OK” for Delta One"" class and travel agencies must book in "R/O" class; reservations must be booked in "Z" class on KL, and reservations on AF Premium Economy must be booked in "A" class and Business Class must be booked in "Z" class. Reservations on VS Premium Economy must be booked in “P” class and VS Upper Class must be booked in “G” class. When upgrading on Companion Certificates earned through the Delta SkyMiles Reserve or Platinum American Express Card, two Upgrade Certificates will be required to upgrade as the primary ticket holder and the companion must always travel in the same cabin. Seats are subject to limited availability and may not be available on all flights or in all markets. Once confirmed, boarding pass can only be issued by the operating carrier on day of departure. Tickets must be validated for travel on Delta. Travel on carriers other than Delta, when permitted, must be ticketed separately. Upgrade reservations on Air France or KLM operated, Korean Air operated and Aeromexico operated flights must be booked by Delta a minimum of one day before the departure. For Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air and Aeromexico, upgrades are only valid for Delta marketed flights.
9. Reservation Waitlist: If the upgrade is not available at the time of request, a Certificate owner and/or travel companion(s) holding a confirmed Main Cabin Class, Delta Comfort+, or Delta Premium Select reservation on an eligible flight may request to be placed on the upgrade waitlist. Passengers on waitlist will be accommodated according to Delta`s priority rules, which Delta reserves the right to change at any time. Waitlist is not available on Air France, KLM, Aeromexico, Korean Air or Virgin Atlantic operated flights.
10. Airport Standby: If an upgrade for the Certificate owner and/or companion(s) (if applicable) is not confirmed from the reservation waitlist prior to departure, then the Certificate owner and/or companion(s) will automatically be added to the Airport Standby List at the time of check-in, provided that check-in occurs no less than 60 minutes prior to flight departure, and will be cleared at the gate if space is available. Passengers on the Airport Standby List will be accommodated according to Delta's priority rules, which Delta reserves the right to change at any time. Airport standby is not available on Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air or Aeromexico operated flights as well as Delta operated flights originating from AMS and CDG.
11. Flight Irregularities: In the event of flight cancellation or itinerary change, previously confirmed upgrades are subject to cancellation.
12. SkyMiles: Mileage and MQD accruals will be based on original fare purchased (base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges, but exclusive of government-imposed taxes and fees) for Delta-marketed flights. For flights marketed by the other valid carriers listed above, mileage and MQD accruals will be based on original fare class purchased.
13. Transferability: Certificate may not be transferred for cash or any other consideration.
14. Changes: Voluntary changes in reservations on ticketed itineraries are permitted only pursuant to the rules of the fare purchased, but upgrade is not guaranteed and will depend on availability and these terms and conditions. Where permitted, changes may require payment of a change fee and/or any difference in the applicable fare. All reissues must be completed by Delta Reservations. If you are re-accommodated on another carrier you will be seated in the originally purchased class or service. Voluntary changes, refunds, or cancellations will not result in the loss of the Upgrade Certificate. If a voluntary change is made to an existing reservation where an Upgrade Certificate has been applied and the upgrade confirmed, Delta Reservations must assist in the reissuance of the Upgrade Certificate to the new flight, if desired. If an Upgrade Certificate is applied to a reservation that is later canceled by the Member, the Upgrade Certificate will be reopened in the Member's account no later than 2-3 weeks.
15. Travel Companion Changes: Companions no longer traveling with the Certificate owner after changing their itinerary are no longer eligible for upgrade pursuant to this certificate. The travel companion`s reservation will be changed to reflect originally purchased class of service for the new itinerary.
16. Sale/Barter Prohibited: This certificate may not be sold or bartered. Delta reserves the right to terminate the SkyMiles account and/or deduct mileage from the account of any SkyMiles Member who sells or barters this certificate, or who sells or barters mileage credit, vouchers, Award certificates or Award Tickets. Improperly obtained certificates/tickets are void and will be confiscated. Persons trying to use such tickets must pay the applicable fare to Delta to travel. Purchased or auctioned certificates are subject to confiscation and travel will not be permitted.
17. Other Terms & Conditions Apply: This certificate and transportation pursuant to it are subject to all terms and conditions of Delta’s contract of carriage, fare rules, rules and regulations and the SkyMiles Membership Guide and Program Rules. Any tax liability or government-imposed fees are the responsibility of the user. For certain destinations, additional taxes may apply for travel in Business Class, First Class, or Premium Select. Copies of Delta’s current contract of carriage and the SkyMiles Membership Guide and Program Rules are available at delta.com.
18. Rule Changes: Delta reserves the right to change its contract of carriage, fare rules, rules and regulations and the SkyMiles Membership Guide and Program Rules at any time and without notice. Without limitation, Delta reserves the right to modify or eliminate the Global Upgrade Certificate program or change the rules for certificate usage. This certificate is the property of Delta Air Lines and must be surrendered or returned upon request.
19. No Replacement: Lost, stolen or otherwise destroyed certificates are void and will not be replaced.
Seats are subject to availability and may not be available on all flights or in all markets. The named Certificate owner and the companion will each require a separate certificate to upgrade but are not required to both be upgraded at the same time. When upgrading on Companion Certificates earned through the Delta SkyMiles Reserve or Platinum American Express Card, two Upgrade Certificates will be required to upgrade as the primary ticket holder and the companion must always travel in the same cabin.
