Family says FAMU negligent TALLAHASSEE The mother of a Florida player who died two years ago on a trip home has filed a lawsuit charging the school's Coach and team doctor with negligence. The five-count suit was filed Wednesday in Leon Circuit Court by Gladys Gardner, who alleges that school officials knew her son suffered from Marfan's Syndrome, which weakens the the major artery in the heart, and did not tell the youngster. Roosevelt Gardner died March 19, 1989, while traveling from FAMU to his home in South 'Carolina. He was 18. 'In other news, Texas officials said an investigation into the school's program found nu-merous violations and have apparently asked Coach Kermit Davis to resign.
