Mr.Vinson H. Hooper, age 67, of Blairsville,Georgia, passes awaySunday, October20, 2002 in UnionGeneralHospital inBlairsville.MR. Hooper was born on Friday, August 16, 1935,inTowns County, Georgia, a son of RobertaTownsendHooper and the late Harve Hooper.HE wasa lifelong resident of this area and a member of WestUnionBaptistChurchand Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114 F&AM.Mr. Hooper worked for 22 years with Blue Ridge Mountain EMC, andthepast many years for the U.S. Forestry Service.
Survivingare his wife, Betty Jean Conley Hooper of the home; his mother, RobertaHooperof Young Harris, Georgia; three sons, Johnny and Tim Hooper, both ofBlairsville, and Jeff Hooper of Flowery Branch, GA; four sisters, OpalChoateof Sugarland, TX, Ruth Hood of Blairsville, Faye Lasiter of Tehachapi,California, Grace Burch of Hayesville, NC; five brothers, Max Hooper ofFranklin, NC, Hines Hooper of Cooper City, FL, James Hooper of YoungHarris, GAand Terry Hooper of Blairsville; three granddaughters, Danja DanielleHooper,Reagan Hooper, and McKenzie Hooper, all of Blairsville; and grandson,DevenPike Hooper of Gainesville; many friends and other relatives alsosurvive.

Mr. A.J.,better known as “Jay” Collins, age 65, native and lifelong resident of Union County, Georgia,passed away Saturday,October 26, 2002, in UnionGeneralHospitalin Blairsville.
Mr.Collins was born in UnionCounty, on Saturday, October 9, 1937,a son of the late F.W. Collins and Pauline Thomas Collins.He was a member and deacon of OldLibertyBaptistChurch.Mr.Collins had farmed and was also a formeremployee of the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Survivingare his loving wife, Joan Ownbey Collins, of Blairsville; his mother,PaulineThomas Collins, also of Blairsville; sons and daughters-in-law: TimothyJay andNancy Collins, of Lula GA; Steven Todd and Rhonda Collins, ofBlairsville; andTracy Allan and Tammy Collins, also of Blairsville, GA; sister, AnitaDyer, ofBlairsville; two brothers: F.C. Collins, and Randall Collins, both ofBlairsville; Grandchildren: Cameron Collins, Caylee Collins, LukeCollins,Caroline Collins, Jordan Collins, Rachel Collins, and Thomas Collins;many friendsand other relatives also survive.

Mr.George A. Payne, age 90, of 10158 G.A. Payne Drive, Suches,GA died Thursday, October 24, 2002at the ChestateeRegionalHospital in Dahlonega, GAfollowing a short illness.
Mr. Paynewas a native and lifelong resident of UnionCounty, was a retired ruralmailcarrier, and was a member of the ZionBaptistChurchin Suches.
