What Mars bars do you need for this Mars chocolate bar fudge recipe?

Mars Bar Slow Cooker Fudge Recipe - What the Redhead said (2)

This is one of the easiest but most satisfying slow cooker fudge recipes I have made. The finished fudge tastes just like a Mars bar and is the perfect fudge to portion up into individual bags and gift at Christmas or any other time of the year. It’s a chocolate fudge that the whole family will love.

How long does slow cooker 3 ingredient mars bar fudge keep for?

Slow cooker fudge keeps well in the fridge, in an airtight container for a couple of weeks. However, any pieces of this fudge with caramel chunks showing may melt slightly – they still taste great but look quite wet in the fridge.

If you’re not going to be eating it for a while, or are going to be gifting it, leave the extra Mars pieces out and it will still taste great and last better too!

Can you make slow cooker fudge with evaporated milk?

Slow cooker fudge works well because condensed milk has a high sugar content, needed to create that beautifully rich fudge. Evaporated milk isn’t the same, doesn’t have that sugar content and isn’t thick enough to help the fudge thicken and set. You can’t use evaporated milk in these recipes – get some condensed milk instead.

Can you make this fudge in the microwave?

Many people make fudge in the microwave but I much prefer the control I have when I make it in the crock pot or slow cooker. If you don’t have a slow cooker, make it in the microwave by putting the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and heating on short bursts in the microwave, stirring in between. Then follow the instructions as per the recipe below.

Do you cook slow cooker fudge high or low temperature?

We always cook slow cooker fudge on a high slow cooker temperature setting and it takes around 40 minutes in total. You could make it on the low setting but it would take longer and would still need to be stirred regularly. You may as well keep the slow cooker on high and be done in under an hour!

When cooking, is the slow cooker fudge lid on or off?

When making slow cooker fudge, you need to remove the slow cooker lid otherwise excess moisture would be retained in the slow cooker pot and the fudge wouldn’t thicken as it needs to.

Many fudge recipes also include butter, vanilla essence, vanilla extract or icing sugar but we’ve never felt the need to add these into the recipe – it’s delicious as it is!

If you’re looking for other fudge slow cooker recipes to try at home then we have to recommend our Caramel fudge – which is really easy – our , Peanut Butter fudge and also our Baileys fudge for an indulgent treat with a little burst of alcohol in it too! Slow cooker fudge doesn’t need anything special to make it, and you probably already have everything you need at home, but this is the equipment we use:

Once you’ve got everything you need to make the fudge you can just keep making it again and again – in so many different flavours too!

FAQs

Why is my Mars bar cake hard? ›

Why are my Mars Bar slices hard? If you haven't melted and mixed your Mars Bars, syrup and butter enough, this can cause your final bake to turn out too hard and clumpy. When melting these together, you can use a whisk as they begin to melt to get the mixture nice and smooth.

What makes something fudge? ›

Fudge is a dense, rich confection typically made with sugar, milk or cream, butter and chocolate or other flavorings. The base for fudge is boiled until it reaches the soft-ball stage (135 to 140 degrees F), then stirred or beaten as it cools to minimize the formation of sugar crystals.

How do I stop my cake from hardening? ›

Why is my cake hard and not fluffy? ›

Why is my chocolate cake so hard? ›

If your cake is hard, the problem probably lies in the beating. The butter must be beaten well in the early stages to give the mixture enough air for a light and fluffy texture. To achieve this the butter must be lukewarm and therefore not too hard.

Why is the surface of my cake hard? ›

The heat is cooking the outer layer too quickly. You may have your oven temperature set too high. You could try turning the heat down to low, and cooking for a longer period. You can also cover the cake with tin foil before you bake to protect the surface from the intense heat while the center cooks.
